The Club Match

Because of its enormous popularity the Flatcoated Retriever Club has organised the Clubmatch every year for the past 10 years.

Every year, in principle the 1st Sunday after Ascension day, anywhere between 300 and 400 Flatcoated Retrievers arrive with their respective owners and family to partake in this match that is open to all Flatcoated Retrievers in and outside the Netherlands, whether they are members of the FRC or not.

Apart from judging the dogs on their breed standard by experts, the dogs can partake in small imaginative tests defined by the hunt committee every year, and the owners can shop at various exhibitors for all kinds of gadgets for them and their respective dogs.

The Club Match offers a great opportunity for you to meet with your breeder, siblings of your dog and other Flatcoat lovers and to exchange experiences regarding our favourite breed.
The Champion Club Match is organised and authorized by the Raad van Beheer op Kynologisch Gebied (The General Dog Breeding Society) in the Netherlands.

With exception of the baby group and puppy group 4 dogs out of each group will be placed. Every 1st dog (on the condition outstanding) will enter the honorary  ring after which best male and best female are chosen and ultimately the best Flatcoat of the day. The winning dog may then call itself Clubwinner of the year. The best male and best female will be considered for the CAC. Because of the high amount of registrations the dog will receive two CAC’s. Also, best baby and puppy will be chosen from best male puppy and best female puppy.

Preparation for this event starts early. Directly after the last clubmatch a suitable location will have to be found, requests and permits to be requested from the Raad van Beheer, invitations to be sent to the inspectors (the specialists on the breed mostly from England, the country of origin of our beautiful breed). The organisation of the Clubmatch is in the hands of the board and many volunteers help make the Clubmatch a success.
